Somebody in Rapid City has way to much junk in their garage.

Ellsworth team disposes of live warhead found in garage : Ellsworth
There is an area of woods around where I grew up that was once (from around WW I thru WW II) part of an artillery range - now it is part of a State Park and once in awhile someone still finds an aritillery round that's been there for years. We saw them now and then when I was a kid but we just stayed away from them - mostly they were too heavy to lift anyhow and we'd been told they weren't safe and shouldn't be disturbed.

If you were told to stay away How do you know they were to heavy to lift?

I am sure someone just TOLD him they were too heavy. A boy and his pals in the woods would NEVER do something they were told not to do.

What would be your first guess???

That is absolutely correct. It those days adults word was law. I will tell you this though, if my dad had ever found out about many of the things I did as a kid, I might never have become an adult.
