First pen I've made for a while. This is Thuya Burr/Burl with sterling silver and accent rings and green acrylic finials and section.

I have been playing around with the cap lengths on the pens I make, purely from an aesthetic perspective. This is a little longer than usual and I'm still considering whether to keep this length.

The pen is 145mm long closed, 132mm open.
Cap threads are 13x0.8 made using a tap and die.
It has a Bock No6 nib.
It is finished using melamine. It gives a very nice natural looking (and feeling) protection to the wood. If you haven't tried it then I recommend giving it a go.

Cheers
Ash

Looks awesome Ash. I don't mind the longer cap. It doesn't look out of proportion to me. Flawless work as always. That thuya looks lovely

Beautiful pen !!!

The cap length is fine . . . In the process of making it longer, have you also slightly reduced the length of thuya in the body ?
From the appearance, I get that impression.

Thank you.

I kept the barrel the same as usual but I may make it a fraction longer next time. I usually try to incorporate golden ratios in the various relative proportions, but I did this by eye. That wasn't easy for somebody with my levels of OCD 😊
