I had this piece of holly, far from blemish free complete with a worm hole. Contemplated just throwing it away, but decided to plod ahead with it. This turned out to be one of my favorite pens to date. All the imperfections just gives it character, to my eyes. This is also my first time using glu-boost. After applying it, I barely needed to micro mesh. I did but very sparingly, especially the courser grits. The pen, very much has an antler look to it. This one is not getting sold. It's a keeper. 😁

I truly feel that blemishes can add a lot of character to many things. I liken it to our scars (lessons learned) are what shaped us into who we are. The Japanese art of Kintsugi is a great example.

That is a beautiful pen and definitely reminiscent of antler. Can we call it vegan antler?

Beautiful pen Ken. I agree with all above! Knots... Love them, that's part of the beauty of wood. The more the merrier. The Celtic is well done, and i appreciate the attention to the placement between the endcaps/veneers. And yes, the Holly truly resembles antler for some angles which I'd say is a bonus!

I was a poor CA finisher for many years. Dalecamino even gave me in-person lessons. I did get better but never comfortable. I went with Glu Boost and very quickly found a CA finish I was comfortable with. I still use WOP, but it's nice to have options.
