You use a dab of CA to secure a part and don't let it off-gas long enough before you assemble it.

Fortunately I have spare parts from other mishaps.
I swear I'm the posterboy for doing things you KNOW you shouldn't do.

Before trashing it, wipe it lightly with Acetone. It's worked for me in the past. Don't flood it with Acetone just in case it reacts with the plating.
