Thinners

Just a curiosity question here. What are the appropriate thinners for the common finishing materials?

What are the appropriate thinners for each of the following?
a. Poly
b. Lacquer
c. BLO
d. Tung Oil
e. ???

Not sure if one would work for all. Can DNA be used to thin poly or would they just not mix?

Poly, BLO and Tung Oil all use Mineral Spirits as a thinner...
Lacquer and Shellac use DNA as a thinner.

Why wouldn't you want to use Lacquer Thinner to thin Lacquer?

You can also use turpentine to thin oil based finishes.
