So I have been build slot car boxes and finally built a zero clearance insert for my table saw. Tonight I ripped a piece of dark walnut at 1/16" this is going to be a game changer, I don't know how I have gone this long without it. I'm sitting inside and I just want to go out to the garage and start thin ripping wood for I don't know what. But I will definitely be using this a lot. I hope this really helps out my pen blank making.

Sounds like fun. A zero clearance insert is important as is a riving knife on back end of blade. I always choose to cut thin strips to the waste side of the blade which is opposite of the fence. I use a thin strip rip jig to constantly set the thickness of each strip. After you do a few you get the feel for it and it becomes natural. Good luck and we look forward to seeing what you come up with.
