I keep getting ads for this AI website/app builder and today I finally decided to skeptically give it a try. I was pretty sure I was going to get yanked into a paywall or something but I made an account with a free plan and quickly instructed the AI to build me an app for tracking pens that I have available to sell as well as pen blanks and kits that I have available. I figured that if all goes well I could use the app to help me manage sales at a craft fare.

Well, after a bit of tinkering with the AI, I found myself with a handy little app where I can see my total sales across a brief time period, see my total inventory at a glance, see my entire inventory organized into price tiers and product types, and more. I was even able to add a form to quickly jot down any information needed to record a custom order from craft fare customers who might be interested in that. I can now also mark down supplies that are committed to making an order so that I don't accidentally use them on something else.

There are a couple flaws I've found throughout the day but I've hit the limit of prompts I can send on the free plan, so tomorrow I'll be working some of those kinks out and maybe adding a couple more features.

So, I guess AI app builders aren't a scam and you can actually make some pretty nice apps to help yourself out. If anyone has questions or would like me to post screenshots of the app, I'm more than happy to do so! AI is a pretty cool tool and the possibilities with it are endless.

I keep a notebook with the pens I put on display at the craft venue. When I get a notice of a sold pen, I note the date in the left margin. I don't go through a detailed inventory of kits, blanks, etc. I just pull the box and look.

I would love it if I could get an app to track finished goods but also the raw material inventory that went into them. Of course, I could write something to do that but have not made the time to do so
