The Pine Tree’s Evil Twin - Casuarina equisetifolia

Just finished this up after arriving back from the triangle pen show. Recently met a gentleman from hawaii who apparently stockpiled this ironwood. He brought me a grocery bag full of limb sections, just perfect for pen turning. This is a rhodium jr gent 1 dressed in "Hawaiian Ironwood". Turned easy, and finished up well. Bit of honesty here....i cracked it during assembly, the lower barrel that is, its on the back side so you will have to take my word for it. May try to fix it, or just make another. Just wanted to get it posted for everyone to see as this wood is beautiful. Cant wait to work with this wood again, as in tomorrow Comments and critiques welcome.

Down the road a piece from you that hyped wood is called Australian Pine and there are tons of it available just about anywhere on the coast of Florida. When it's green it's not too bad to turn, but when it dries, it definitely is not fun to turn! I would compare it to turning armour plate!:biggrin:
