So I managed to save the tubes with some advice from here. If only I had remembered to paint the tubes... At least I learned (on that front what types of paint do you recommend for painting the tubes and what kind for painting the blank?)

I have just been using rattle can paint from the big box store,. Be sure you thoroughly shake and give them more than the recommended drying time. It does help the paint adhere if you go ahead and rough up the blanks. That is just when I paint the tubes. To reverse paint, I have been using model paint in the tiny glass jars. It's a bit pricey, but you don't have the paint scrape off when you insert the tube.

Also, I always use epoxy instead of the CA. Let it fully cure. (But I think you said you are already doing that).

Another thing you can do is tint the epoxy with just a small amount of the paint. Too much paint will affect the epoxy.
