Over the last few years, the American Association Of Woodturners has put more effort into recognizing pen turning. The magazine has seen numerous articles (one by our own JohnU), numerous demonstrations at the annual symposium have featured pen turning and casting, and they have added a "learn to turn" pen turning into the vendor area - where each year we make about 300 pens with new and experienced turners. This year the new executive director, Gretchen Wilbrandt, will be attending the Midwest Penturners Gathering to meet and greet the hundreds of pen makers that come out. You still have time to sign up and come out. The MPG has always been well attended by IAP including being founded by Cozee (Greg Cozad). I know Jeff is planning on attending and Mark will be bringing "The Collection". Ed Brown will be demoing, as well as John Underhill. It's the largest and longest running pen making sysmposium around and you don't want to miss this one.
