I do like your collection and after viewing your pics I understand the need for the roll of paper above you in the first shot, you seem adventurous enough to sometimes scare yourself.

Seriously enjoyed your show and tell.

collets - I got them from some machine supply company. Can't remember the name - but they're metric, from 3 or 5mm up to 20mm.
ER32 Collet Sets

Paper towels - I use a LOT more than I'd like, but I sure do need them. Constantly wiping things and cleaning things, also use them for polishing with and having a clean place to lay parts and pieces. I go through the cheap ones to keep my drill bits wet and cool, and the nicer Bounty for polishing.

Luckily I've only had one close call with a broken drill bit and the chuck flying out against the wall and bouncing into my stomach. Super lucky. THen I wrote about it here and you all told me to keep a hand on the drill chuck when drilling out my blanks. SUCH a good idea.

I always like to see how other people use their shop space. Your shop puts my inefficient space to shame. If I put pics of my "shop" I would probably be ridiculed out of here. Is that your only bandsaw, or do you have a big one hiding?

Jim, I don't think anybody would ridicule you out of here if you have a cramped or messy shop. You should see my dad's shop. Now THAT'S a mess, and it's huge. 12x25 or so, and there's not even a trail on the floor you can walk on. It's just FILLED with junk. He's got all the good power tools, too. Drill press, floor band saw, table saw, sliding miter saw, table planer, routers, all sorts of cool stuff, and you couldn't use it if your life depended on it. But then he hasn't used his shop in 28 years, not since he chopped his pinky finger off when he made a little rocking chair for me.

As far as big enough, I have exactly enough free floor space (if you put the stools outside) to put one 4x8 sheet of ply down to cut, with a tiny path around it. I'd rather cut wood out in the drive way though.
 
It's organization I aspire to! I'm slowing making a workable space out of my chaos.

I can understand the fear of tools. I cut off my index finger almost two years ago on a tablesaw. They put it back on, but it's shorter, doesn't work right (or bend at all) and sure isn't pretty. Thus my "safer" turning habit. In fact, some of the cherry I'm turning still has some blood spots -- and it was in the roof rack, waaaay over there.
