I tried it on my Rockler crosscut sled and after adjustment I stopped at 0.00132645" off. It's quick and you only waste a scrap piece anyway. We all have calipers and the units don't matter as long as you stay with one unit.

That's how I do it too. You should see all the unused screw holes in the bottom of my sleds from trying to get it "perfect". :) I've never used the calculator, I just measure the strip created by the fifth cut, if it's the same at both ends you're good.
