Just a quick note to say that thanks to the Birthday Bash and Jeff's generosity my new Drill Doctor arrived today!!!! Whoopee, all my old drills are lined up and waiting their turn to be sharpened. This is going to be quite an improvement. Looks like a busy weekend.

Thanks again,
Larry

As they say ... Until there is a picture it didn't happen ...
well, now there is a picture and it has finally sunk in ...

I'm a loooooser :crying:

Congrats on your victory

These tools are a great addition to anyone's shop. Congratulations on getting one in your shop!

Hope you enjoy using really sharp drill bits as it certainly makes a great amount of difference when drilling. Even some new bits can be improved upon by re-sharpening them when you first take them out of the box.

Now, just what the heck are you going to do with that 'bent' bit? The one out in front in the third picture that is really leaning like crazy! No amount of sharpening is going to help fix that one. (I realize it is not seated in the box and am just giving you some grief!)

I spent some time with my DD on my HF drills (7mm), after 5 twists, one of the cutting edges broke off, 50-60 strokes later the bit was sharp again, but 3/4" shorter than it started.

Go slow and have fun.

Well I couldn't wait till this weekend, so I got busy in the shop this morning and set up the DD. I had watched the DVD last night and I looked at the instructions this morning. After a short learning curve---getting the feel and then making the adjustments like the book said instead of the way I thought it should be, I got busy sharpening. WOW does this thing perform. My bits were rubbing a hole in the wood rather than cutting. Now I am getting shavings, much like you get off the lathe when your tools are sharp. I sharpened my whole set of bits, and just as I was cleaning up the UPS man came. I had ordered some penlight kits and a drill bit for them. Just for kicks, I took the new bit and drilled some holes in some scrap maple. It did OK and just yesterday I would have been satisfied, but I took the bit and sharpened it on the DD. I can't believe the difference it made. It's much easier to drill with, clean smooth round hole and nice shavings. I am really stoked with this tool and can't believe the difference it makes. I think I have found part of the reason for my wandering drill holes in pen blanks. Anyways, back to the shop and thanks again to Jeff.
