The bowling ball pen

This is the pen I was making the section for that broke, so made one from delrin. Hard to find a ball thick enough to make full diameter body and caps from. Learned a thing or two. Will make a couple of changes, but happy with the result.

Good question! Some turn like 'regular' acrylic or PR, some…..thus one was a bit chalky, but firm enough to use. Most covers are only a half inch thick or less.

I've never been lucky enough to find a bowling ball with thick enough outer layer to turn a pen larger than an 8 mm pen and they aren't easy or fun to cut! Congrats on your work and efforts… it turned out Great!

Rare to find one with more than about 1/2" of 'skin'. And no, not very east to cut up!
