Well it's that time of year again. Last night we had a hard frost and I had to scrape the windshield this morning, so my shop goes back to being a garage again. I have to move my tablesaw, planers, and work table to one side to get the wife's car in, the lathes and other tools are O.K. where they are. Does anyone else have this problem?

I was going to have that problem, but I convinced my wife that the wood needs to be kept warm and dry, so I set up shop in my basement.

The only down fall is that any casting I do, must be done outside. It just doesn't work in the basement. :frown:

Yes I do as well, but I have less room than you as I had to put up cabinets for storage along one wall. Room for the lathe, a 14" bandsaw and a work bench. The dust collector and shop vac get pushed wherever they will fit as I need them.

The only difference was the bosses car has been going in every night for a month already and it will be April/May before I get a shop again.

My wife never gave up the garage so each use of the tools is: car out, table-saw and sanders out, move mini lathe so I can get to the work bench, make whatever, sweep and dust and vacuum the garage, put everything away, car back in.

One of the reasons I do as little as I do. But she is happy which ultimately means I'm happier.

I don't have that problem, my wife puts her car in the garage and I scrap the frost off mine.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

That reminds me dear ...... we need to get the garage cleaned up so my car can go back in .. didn't make it last winter .. perhaps we could schedule that for ..... 2015?

We did really good about this until LAST year .. then it just got away from us. We even built the house with a 1/2 car bump out for the shop. Our fix has been that my wonderful husband gets up and starts my car along with cleaning off the snow/ice etc every morning before I go to work. (or we have to clean up the garage so my car fits ... )
