Hey everyone. I've already posted a few times, so you might recognize my name. I appreciate being added to this association. I'm just starting to learn about turning (primarily through my interest in and collecting of fine wood pens).

I've attached a photo of one of my prized pens, a Boonaree burl rollerball, as well as some wood I'm drying (using wooden chopsticks as stickers) for future projects, sale, and trade.

Thanks again.

Welcome to the group! The site is a two way street: learn and share. OK, I like the grain for the Boonaree wood. Where did you get it? Finish used?
Thanks, John. I paid a pretty penny for a block of Boonaree burl from a small, family-owned dealer on the East Coast. I still have burl left, as I've only had a couple pens made from the block so far.
For this pen, the craftsman who turned it for me used a medium thin CA after applying boiled linseed oil at 600g with a cloth backing and then again with 600g, 800g, 1,500g, and 2,000g with a paper backing. To finish it off, he applied a sealer and lacquer. My request for this particular pen was NOT to have a high-gloss finish as I wanted to keep things more "woody" and natural.
