These are two of the blanks that Bsea sent me in our July pen exchange, along with a note that stated these were something new he was casting and I should try. He also said to be sure I painted the tubes because he used a lot of clear PR and you could see through the blank in some spots. The first one I turned back in July was the Rootbeer Float blank. Turned out extreemly well. Artisan Executive Fountain Pen kit from CSUSA in 10k Gold. Second blank, turned in April, the Water Falls (correct me if I have the name wrong) was also done on the Artisan Executive kit, but with the Roller Ball nib. I painted the tubes in a metalic silver which shows through the clear PR and adds some sparkel to the pen. Both are finished in 8 coats of thick CA and polished with One-Step. The colors and mix in these blanks are just fantastic and will be proudly added to my collection. Please excuse the bad photos, I dropped the camera on the floor and had to reset everything. Thanks Bob !!! Jim S

Jim, I had forgotten I'd made those blanks. Those are some experiments that I knew I would like, but not what I normally do. As a rule, I don't use clear in a blank that I put on the website because a lot of people don't want to have to paint the blanks. You did a great job.

And I just ordered a few of those kits. I like them because the show so much of the blank.

Glad you liked them Bob. It's always interesting to work with something new you have never seen before. It's like opening a Christmas present, the more you remove from the blank the greater the surprize at the end. Fantastic blanks !! Thank you for sharing !! Since I turned these two blanks 8 months apart, I did not notice that I had chosen the same kits, untill I gathered them up for the photos. Thank you again !! Jim S

Bob; Here are a couple more photos with some fine tuning on the camera. I hope that it gives people a better idea of the depth of color on these blanks. Jim S

Thank you all for the nice comments. Bob (Bsea) did all the hard work, I just turned them round and pushed the ends in. Jim S
