Texas Ebony and Texas Mesquite

The Officers pen (Crooked Mill) is turned Texas Mesquite, the Steampunk is Texas Ebony (also Crooked Mill). The Texas ebony has good pattern but because it is dark it is hard to photograph (at least for me ). Finish on both is walnut oil as sanding lubricant and four coats Pen Plus with top coat of wax. So we have now completed pens 5 and 6. I just love pen pen turning.

I made a pen using Texas Ebony and you have to see it in person to appreciate the grain and etc. Because its dark you can't really get a good picture. I have a lot of Texas Ebony but I think I'll save it for bottle stoppers where you get to see more of it. Nice work.

Looking good. I use to really like turning mesquite but I found out I'm allergic to it so no more mesquite in my shop. Texas Ebony is some awesome wood best appreciated in person.
