First, second, and 18th project completed this week on my new (to me) robust lathe.
All 10" peppermills made from solid walnut, maple, or ash.

It's great. Super smooth and a dream to drill on. Better than all my other lathes. I really want my first project to be a pen, just because it's ridiculous overkill, but this will do

How do you manage to drill the whole for the post so strait?

How do you manage to drill the whole for the post so strait?

Well 2 ways you can do it:
Drill the hole first and then do a turn between centers sort of thing, so even if you hole is off you'll turn the outside concentric.
Or dill 1/2 way and turn it around then drill from the other direction. That will limit the drift. And also be a little easier on the drill bit

I do a bit of both
