We now have a Tesla electric car in space. SpaceX tested their new Falcon Heavy today and needed a payload. They launched one of Elon Musk's Tesla electric cars with a space suit in the driver's seat. This car will now be in orbit for millions of years. It is on a track to go around the sun and past Mars in an elliptical orbit. Their test was very successful and they landed two of their Falcon 9 rockets at the same time when they returned to Earth in Florida and then landed a third one on the drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean.
GO SPACEX!!!!!
I live about 30-35 miles from their test facility in McGregor, Texas and hear their test burns all of the time. I have actually stood up in some of the rocket motors on their test pad when I was taken on a tour by one of the safety engineers that lived in one of our rental units located in McGregor. It is neat to think that one of the motors I stood up in actually went into space.
Cool stuff.:airplane:
