Recent pics of TX Ebony pens motivated me to take pictures of these. Got a few small 12" long logs of Texas Ebony recently, and made the pair below from the same cut. The cigar is just pure Carnuba wax, the Jr is CA as I wasn't buzzed by the look of the wax--though I do prefer the feel and the up-close look. Interesting comparison for me--and I may disassemble the cigar and try it with WTF.

Second Pair...

Second pair is a Diamondcast twin set--slim for my wife's birthday and a cigar for me. Had the antique copper kit in slim, but wanted more meat in the middle so made a mesquite/AARP card center band. Not sure that will be the final band--the mesquite is lighter than I thought.

Third pair...

Finally-- Curly maple & bloodwood scraps from box builds a year or so ago. Too nice to throw away, too small to use--so I glued them up. Cut a little walnut veneer to keep the bloodwood from staining the maple--worked well, with no color transfer.

Thanks for looking...

With the Texas Ebony there is definitely a trade off between "look" and "feel". Nice to see them side by side, thanks for sharing. Great looking group of pens!

Wonderful work !!! . Thanks for sharing.

Special thanks for your sharing about using the veneer to inhibit cross coloring of the dark and light woods ... will make use of that idea !

Very nice work. There is a drastic difference in the Texas ebony finishes. Great to see them side by side. And the cigar has some nice figure.
Love the maple and blood wood.
Congratulations on a job well done.
