What a difference the right tools make. I've turned several of these but they were tube in cast. I didn't have a drill bit long enough to drill all the way through so I used a 7mm bit to drill a pilot hole the went half way on each end with the correct size. I've done this before many times with no problems but I guess I had my heart set on this particular blank so it decided to take a turn for the worst. Made a trip to the local Woodcraft and then all went well. A Worthless Wood Blank with Buckeye Burl and 2 Tone blue Alumilite.

It's a Tenacious from Woodcraft. It's the exact same kit as the Blade from Berea. I think they might be a couple of bucks cheaper from Berea but I get a 10% discount at Woodcraft plus I figure the tax and shipping g offset. Close enough for me to get them local and get them the day needed if necessary.

Kenny that was a good save. I've made several of the Blades. I'm really liking this kit. Smoothest clicker I've done.

It wasn't a save it was a start over. The first blank was trash. I tried to get by without getting the proper drill bit. I've managed to do so a few times but this time it didn't work out. I really like the blank because of the color and grain but now it's trash. Luckily I made the blank out of left over wood from casting Worthless Wood. There were a few pieces that were too small to make a 3/4" square blank do I made a few 9/16" blanks. Someone posted in another thread about a vendor giving away small pieces to customers and called them "Challenge Blanks". I thought that was a good name considering they make you slow down and help hone your skills or come up with new ideas to put them to use. The Buckeye Burl was too nice to toss so I decided to make some smaller blanks for the smaller tubes pens. That way your not wasting wood by trashing it or taking a full size blank and turning it down to almost nothing.
