G'day!
Recently had a customer wanting a dyed timber barrel and a contrasting resin cap and section. She is arty, and loves loud, bright and fun colours. I made her the first image pen and she was blown away with joy.
I've had a few requests for these now and after making a few more, have a dozen on order!
I named them 'Tashokuno' which basically means 'multi coloured' in Japanese.
I use M13x.8 triple start, the barrel is partially sleeved with the contrasting material and a small section before the threads, as an accent.
The timber is dyed and stabilised by Peter Southworth in Australia. The last pic is the new batch I received for these orders. They are spectacular and fun. Not for all, but being a pen maker, I have to make pens which aren't just to my liking or choice, which is opening up my mind to different styles and creativity. I absolutely am hooked!
The purple pen was a spontaneous make, I saw the curly purple maple and the next thing I looked at was a Jonathan Brooks ghost koi in my big pile of recently acquired Brooks blanks. I just had to make it. It didn't even make it to my sales page before it sold, which was awesome.
Anyway I'm babbling.
I hope you enjoy. I admit, not all will like them, but eh, anyways!

Casey,
You are paving the way for the rest of us making these pens from wood and using sleeves. I have made three so far and it is a nice way to make fountain pens using blanks that are just too nice for kit pens. Thanks for sharing.
Do a good turn daily!
Don

I'm not a fan of the contrasting color assemblies (but that is irrelevant as the customer was happy, so that's what counts), but the purple one I find very attractive. Interesting that you have found a market for very distinct and colorful pens. Quite the opposite of the normally very reserved market for fountains.

Bonjour, croissant :) (rethorical question) When are you going back to your regular work so some others can sell a few creations (instead of you monopolizing the floor)?? Awesome work mate!
