Trying to get the right tools for making my own pen parts. Which are the most useful for such things as grip sections and cap and body connections - plug, taper or bottoming taps?
Tap help, please - plug, taper or bottoming??

plug and bottom, I usually start my threads with the plug and then finish them with a bottoming tap. If I dont have or cant get a bottoming tap I will grind off a plug tap to make it work. I use the bottom taps to thread to an inside shoulder. IF you are just drilling holes straight through you wont need the bottoming taps. If you have stepped drilling you may need or want them.
