I have a Jet lathe and the tail stock keeps creeping loose while turning. I have adjusted the nut for the cam handle several times and it still keeps moving a tiny bit. Any ideas or suggestions to correct this? Everything is clear under the bed rails, etc.

This problem has been going on for many years and not just Jet lathe. Here is an old thread that addressed this issue.

Now they make different type of locking nuts but do not have a link. Yours maybe just a case of new washer or tightening of the locknut under the tailstock. Take it off and look under there and adjust some.
As noted in post, have adjusted and tightened lock nut several times. Mine is the nylock type.

As John T said this is a known flaw with the mini lathes with a round clamp under the tailstock. Rick Herrell makes these for a reasonable price and they allow the tailstock to be clamped down solidly so it doesn't "creep".Tail Stock Clamp
Thanks for info, will check it out. Had the lathe for 4 years and this just started. I have a 2nd Jet and no issues with that one.

I made an extended handle.... a 10" dowel and drilled it out to fit over the tightening handle. Acts like a cheater bar. Works but will look at Rick H's piece.

Ricks's products are fantastic, but it can't hurt to have a spare OEM part from Jet. If you are the only owner, it should still be under warranty - 5 years. Jet has sent me many parts for free. Give them a call and see what that say (and still get Rick's part :-)).

Ordered from Rick today. The problematic Jet is a 1015. The 1221 is fine. I'm thankful for this thread. I thought it was the lathe. I kept cleaning & tightening the bolt. Did nothing.

I ordered from Rick and that problem went away. Years later I noticed the eccentric under the tailstock was wearing, take that apart and check that also. Two similar issues.

I have 3 - 2, 1221s and 1 1015, all are fine (so far). I did have tighten the not about an 1/8th to 1/4 turn on the 5 year old 1221.

Had the same problem with my Jet mini; I had to lock down the tailstock, loosen it then retighten. This usually got it to stop moving. Even had to do this sometimess after I got the upgraded washer for the lock down.

I replaced the nuts on both my mini's several yrs ago with one of Rick's. It's not been a problem since
