Can anyone tell me if this is a good buy or not?

Toshiba 16GB Thrive

i really dont know much about these and the last one i bought was a pandigital cuz i was trying to get out cheap for only $79 bucks and it was just that, CHEAP.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have a thrive and love it. It is a little thicker than other tablet but that is because of the extra ports (full and mini USB, HDMI, SD Slot) that no other tablet I have seen has. I also like that the back can be replaced and the back is a rugged rubber instead of that purdy shiny stuff. One of the best things is that it will take an SD card so it can be expanded. Mine is an 8GB but we put a 16GB SD card making it a 24GB storage. It also has an option for a docking station and has a full size USB so you can plug a keyboard and mouse into it. We are looking to buy my mom a tablet for her birthday and are leaning towards a thrive for her as well.

What I can tell you is it will depend on the Operating system what problems and support you get, I know somebody that has had terrible support for their APPLE tablet. I known first hand Asus tablet support sucs. And I think it is crap shoot with which support tech body will answer the phone.
I will say that the better known brands you are likely to get either a great tablet, and or need for tech support. It will depend on what your use will be for it.
I like my Asus transformer and other than minor apps type problems. It has worked for me.

I would look up the Toshiba forums and join and ask questions, I know that the Asus forum people tell it like it is about the OP, the apps, and any and all problems.
Toshiba Thrive Forums since it has the Android OP the Asus forum may be of some interest to as the name thrive has appeared in a number of posts.http://www.transformerforums.com
