Sweet Gum Seeds in Amber

A while ago Jeff posted that Bob Gibbs had offered some of his Sweet Gum Seed blanks free to members of IAP.

I was one of the fortunate first three, but only this week was able to turn one of the blanks.

I capped the blank with Wenge and placed it on a Le Roi V2 click in Gold TN/ Gun Metal.

Very nice work. I like how you capped the resin blank with the Wenge. I too have some sweet gum blanks from Bob's Pens. They are holding steady in my "to be done" box while I take care of some other orders. Did you have lots of voids to fill with CA in his blanks?

There were a number of voids. I filled some with CA, but others were big enough that I used some sawdust to fill them. Also, unless you like the brass tube showing through painting the tubes is a must. I painted the tube black which seems to have worked well. I may try the next one with brown paint, but it also might be pretty interesting with some bright color too.
