Wichita Falls, TX, USA.
Time for the annual symposium held here in Texas is getting close. The symposium is sponsored by the SouthWest Association of Turners. The Southwest Association of Turners is an all-volunteer non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose sole purpose is to provide an outstanding educational opportunity to anyone interested in woodturning.

The symposium, aka SWAT, will be held Aug 26-28 in Waco, Texas. The rotations will include two pen turning demonstrations. There will also be a hands on penturning area. Blanks with tubes will be provided and kits for making the pens will be on sale by several vendors. Those who make a pen will keep it. Ken Nelson of Kallenshaan Woods will engrave the pen with the makers name if the pen was made in the penturning area.

I look forward to meeting any IAP members who will be in attendance. Last year we had over 500 paid attendees.

On Friday night there will be a penturning special interest group meeting during the SIG meetings time.

Do a good turn daily!

See you Friday night

I am driving to Waco Friday morning from Round Rock. The demo schedule looks good. See you Friday night at the SIG. BTW, We met at the CTWA meeting when you did the demo a few months ago. Looking forward to asking you some more questions after contemplating your demo.

I'm looking forward to this again Don! But I hope to be better prepared this time. It would be great if we had a huge IAP turnout on Friday or even for the whole weekend!

It's on my schedule every year. The LOML and I will be there. Don, I'm looking forward to your presentations again this year.
I, too, hope we have a record turnout this year.
See 'ya there.
Gordon

Sorry I can't be there, we were supposed to set up as vendors, but I guess my wife thinks my health is not up to that much travel, I was really looking forward to meeting You all or I guess I should say Y'all, Maybe next year.

I hope I will be there this year. Maybe this will give me a chance to meet some of you guys. I was going to go last year but life got in the way. SWAT is one of the few times that something big happens and it is not a hundred and fifty miles away, just fifty.

I will be delighted to answer any questions or to learn a better way to do what I demonstrated at the CTWA meeting. See you at the end of August.
Do a good turn daily!

Looking forward to meeting you. I grew up in Itasca. I think we may have played Cranfills Gap in athletics or it may have been after I left. I moved from there in 1972 but my Dad and other family still lives there. SWAT is a great symposium.

Will you be bringing any pen or turning blanks or chunks of wood? See you in August.

Just a reminder. Tomorrow (July 25th) is the last day to get the discounted registration and get in on the drawing for the vendor prizes of $250,$150,and $100. I hope to see a lot of IAP members there.

I will be bringing wood. It is how I pay for the trip. I spent this winter and spring preparing to be a vendor there just for me and my dad to get blow off by the guy who asked us to sell there. This year I will try to have a spot reserved before we leave. I am not from Cranfils Gap but my wife is. I hail from Pottsville smallest school in the state until they shut it down.

A couple or three of us Coonasses from South Louisiana will be making the trip. Looking forward to seeing some of you guys there.
