Whatever it is, it looks great. I am working learnig the art of bowl turning. It is definitely a lot different the turning pens. What finish did you use on this bowl?

Well, the finish is an interesting question. I started with 3 coats of Minwax wipe-on poly, but for some reason the last coat never wanted to dry completely. I took it off as best I could with steel wool, but don't think I got completely down to bare wood. Then I (re)finished with Master's Magic.

The Master's Magic is spray-on. It dries quickly and generally leaves a nice finish. I'm not sure how durable it is, however.
