That thing is 220 volts, is that common on vac pumps?

In this case if you want a great price that's what your stuck with. It is brand new. The ones on ebay are usually used. This is a very popular pump with a lot of turners. I know three members of our club that got one. Two worked great out of the box. The other member had problems getting full vacuum. Surplus Center did send a replacement.These pumps were made for a computer manufacturer and never used.
I paid nearly $400 dollars years ago for a brand new one from Grainger. I can usually find a 120v one for about half that if I am patient on ebay.

Thanks for the info Russell, I was just surprised at 220, but it is only 1.5 amp, which would not put a strain on anyones 220 system, it would just be a matter of wiring it.

I had my shop wired with a new 120 circuit and a 220 (or 240 as is the case) with 30 amp capacity so I should be fine to run a few things off of it. I plan on running the DVR on it when I get around to putting a new plug on it and removing the jumper.

This looks like a really nice pump. I was this close -><- to buying one, but ultimately decided that I don't want to get into veneering at this time.

I'm not doing veneering either, I want it for vacuum chucking. I've been getting into some natural edge stuff recently and vacuum is the best way to hold the bowls for cleaning up the foot.
