I ran accross the sunken alder on a fluke. Sunken wood is recovered from being under water a significant depth and is esentially preserved. It has to be handled specifically and quickly to prevent fungal rot once it is recovered. The end result is wood that looks like petrified wood but turns like a hard wood like olivewood or something. If anyone know a resource to purchase sunken recovered wood pen blanks or in a block let me know. It is too fun to turn and far to beautiful.
