Here are some original turn of the century penmanship books online. Fantastic examples of how penmanship was taught before the days of the ballpoint pen and in some cased the lessons are done with dip pens as examples.. but the best part is that they all go into hand placement, angle and a lot of muscle memory lessons to help it all become second nature... this is the way I was taught script (cursive) in parochial school in the early 50's..

Palmer Penmanship Primer: http://www.iampeth.com/lessons/practical_penmanship/modern_business_writing.htm

Kelcher Compendium: http://www.iampeth.com/books/kelchner_compendium/kelchner_page0.html

You will find even more at the original site http://www.iampeth.com/lessons.htm#business_writing

You can download the complete old books at
http://www.acornarts.org/OPBooks.html
Just remember that these are large downloads and will take some time, even on broadband connections.

Wow, Tom thank you. Those are fantastic! I remember at least parts of what I looked through at a cursory glance this morning from my own instructional cursive writing in elementary school (from the early 70s)... taught by an elderly lady who was quite a perfectionist. [;)] lol

Thanks for posting these links!!
