Well, being a newbie, it had to happen.

What is your opinion:

Mold: Clear PVC pipe, from amazon. It is rather small, if that helps to know. 5/8 ID. about 3 " long.

I used:
Let's Resin Epoxy.
Mold release is Stoner Rocket release.

Placed in Pressure pot a good 12+ hours ,then aged several days - until tested hard.

For now, I will just cut the pipe-mold lengthwise.

thanks!

Epoxy sticks to everything and is hard on molds, even silicone. Urethane resin is easier to demold and cures much faster. Also, even with urethane resin, over time and use, the pvc surface will get rough from the heat generated during curing and will hold on to blanks like that. I know some have used wooden downloads to lightly hammer them out. It's a coin toss to not break them which convinced me to use other molds. Best of luck!

a search found this from a member:
"Be sure to use the right release agent, epoxy release is different than urethane and both need time to dry thoroughly before pouring resin into it"

I was not aware of a drying time requirement!

Thanks, John. I don't mind if I lose this one piece of PVC, but not the rest of the pvc.

As one can imagine, I just want to see how the blank looks - might look :) before committing to it.
