Hello IAP, I'm Robert, a product development professional specializing in product design, prototyping, and manufacturing. I joined the IAP forum to expand my lapidary hobby into pens. While most people make from Wood here I'm guessing, I hope there's a few niche spots for custom metal fittings turning and alternative material barrel making. I plan to learn and share what I learn to make with stone, brass, copper and some nickel.
I started my lapidary journey in 2020 after coming home to the USA during COVID after 18 years living overseas mainly in Asia and a few years in Australia. I've been experimenting in coring stone in both small (1mm - 3mm) and large (up to 60mm) diameters, as well as laminating with materials like brass, copper, and titanium. Making jewelry has been my main focus to give pretty cool Christmas presents but definitely limited to the ladies. Pens open up a whole new world. Belt buckles are also on the list though!!! Is there a IAB?
