I recently bought some pen blanks that I think are probably cast from polyester resin. One of the blanks is very sticky to the touch, maybe as if the resin isn't fully cured. Is this probably just a surface issue and will be fine after I start turning, or is this or more serious problem? The other 3 blanks are not sticky to the touch. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

The blanks need a little warmth to set the resin. Turn on the oven to warm. Get a cookie sheet with foil on it or a take out food pan. Put a couple small sticks or skewers on the sheet with the blanks on the sticks. Put them in the oven and turn it off. Take out in ten minutes and let it cool an hour or two and see if the sticky is gone. Don't "cook" it too long or they will get brittle. A little heat goes a long way.
