Just finished my new steady rest today. I am really please how solid it is, its made from 3/8" plate.
Now lets turn some big vases.

I made one about 6 months ago and used it for one vase and to see if I could turn some PVC pipe to make some couplings. It worked OK, but other than that and have been too busy since. However, I have always wanted one but never had it when I needed it. I do now

Yours looks excellent! Mine is made from wood. 😔 🙂, But I'm happy with it.

Nice work by both you and Hank. So I'm assuming there is a plate underneath the bed to draw the rest down tight? 3/8ths plate should be strong enough for anything you run through it.
