Today my tap and die set as well as my collet chuck arrived. I figured that I have all of the neccesary tools, materials, springs, clips and click mechanisms I had better get started trying to turn the ideas in my head into some actual pens. I primarily use and sell ballpoint pens in the Parker type refill variety, so the kitless click pens will be my first venture into the non component world. I love the various fountain pens that seem to be the majority of kitless pens. I just rarely if ever sell or use fountain pens. I decided to use Amedeo blue resin for the main body and alternative ivory for the nib and finial. This is still a work in progress that I hope to get shaped and finished tommorow. Today's progress included cutting, tapping, threading, drilling and a little rough shaping of the nib and finial. The final size should only be 50-60% of the size that it is right now. The overall length is right on and it fictions as a pen, albeit a grotesquely large pen. This is the first thing that I have ever tapped and threaded so I am quite pleased with the results thus far.

I will post pics of the finished pen tomorrow so long as I don't blow it up!

Really interesting! I'd never thought about kitless ballpoints. Can't wait to see the finished product. It already looks cool.
