Stabilizer Media???

I have been in thinking of stabilizing some wood with vacuum. I hadnt seen the threads on the pots until today. Great post by the way. I have a friend that told me that they have a friend who make knives who stabilize knife scales with CA glue using vacuum jar. When he removes the scales he sprays them with accelerator to speed up the drying process.I am wanting to stablize some wood blocks 4" X 4" X 1".

What do you all think of using CA glue and accelerator for stabilization?

I doubt that you are going to be able to stabilize blocks that size using the home vacuum/pressure method.

If you want some hard data on penetration under vacuum (albeit for dyes, not CA)

That dye's thinner than CA, and it takes a *lot* of dye for those blanks.

I think Steve's right- those blocks are too large, you'd have a hard time getting enough penetration.
