I was wondering if I could get some answers to a couple questions about stabilized wood.
1) where are some good resources to get stabilized blanks?
2) what is a good price for them?

I was at one place today that wanted $4.00 per ounce. Is this reasonable.

A couple of good places to get them is Arizona Silhouette, and Craft Supply. Some people on this forum sells stabilized blanks and I'm sure you will hear from them. I have never heard about buying them by the ounce, but, there is a lot that I've never heard about.[:D]

Hi Jeff
Sounds like you are getting some good advice.
The price seems a little high to me, but then some of that could depend on the type of wood you are talking about.

Depending on the wood, $4 is a steal or a rip off.

The local woodcraft will have them for $700 per blank, the only advantage being you can hand pick what you want (which at my local WC there isn't a lot of variation in quality, it's all "so-so").

Have woodturningz mail or fax you a current list of what they have.

Oh my gosh, that's some expensive pen blanks!!! [:0][:0][:0][:0] I hope they're at least oversized blanks!

River Ridge products sells blanks or will stabilize your blanks. They charge by the pound for stabilizing but I can't remember how much exactly. They do a great job though.
