These are something someone asked about and if I knew how to make them. They are called spurtles and people use them to stir porridges, sourdough starters and lots more plus you can get someone's attention if you know what I mean.
yes the holes make a difference. many years ago in highschool the dean was also the head football coach and if the teacher sent you to the dean and you were a football player. you would get 3 licks with it and then when it was football practice time. Lets just say you never went to see the dean after the first time.Those are nice looking. If you drill a dozen small holes in them, they work even better at getting someone's attention. Lol

I thought I detected some shape there but could not tell for sure what it was.I remember the holes that seemed to whistle before impact. I posted these on a Sourdough and the admin thought what the heck this is my site and then I figured out what they were. These are about 1/4 inch thick with a slight curve at the end and the paddle part is not flat but slightly oval.
