And this is what I came up with. A Toni twist wearing oak burl, inserts made from poplar and purpleheart glued together first then made a single knot figure with it. Cut it in half and rotated the blanks to place the knots on the ends when I turned them. I would recommend soaking the cut ends in thin CA after drilling then clean it out with the drill again to avoid splinters that will interfere with gluing the barrel in. That was messy dealing with that.
