Inspired by New Zealand turner Terry Scott's "Spirals" I decided to see if I could go some way towards replicating the piece in a pen. This is the prototype, textured but not coloured and with overlapping "bowls" cut using the Beall Pen Wizard and a core box cutter.

There is some way to go yet with this idea but I would welcome comments and critique.

The pen is made with the free teak blank that came with last months "Woodturning" magazine in the UK and uses a standard slimline kit with a broader centre band fitted. Finished using the Beall buff system, or my home made version of it.

:biggrin::biggrin:I don't know what to say. There is beauty in it, not functionality. Looks like it had been in a parking lot for a while before someone found it.:biggrin:
