Spirals Pen

[Brittleheart]

Inspired by New Zealand turner Terry Scott's "Spirals" I decided to see if I could go some way towards replicating the piece in a pen. This is the prototype, textured but not coloured and with overlapping "bowls" cut using the Beall Pen Wizard and a core box cutter.

There is some way to go yet with this idea but I would welcome comments and critique.

The pen is made with the free teak blank that came with last months "Woodturning" magazine in the UK and uses a standard slimline kit with a broader centre band fitted. Finished using the Beall buff system, or my home made version of it.

I think that it is terrific. I bet it isn't too hard on the hand either with the nice smooth section near the tip. Very cool.

I like it! Very unique. It would look good with a spray laquer to help put a finish coating on it.

I agree Bruce, a lacquer finish would have been better. I will post version 2 soon.
