I have a lovely older Craft Supplies Precision Chuck with a 3/4" 14tpi thread. My new Record lathe has a 3/4" 16tpi thread. Can anybody suggest where I can find a spindle thread adaptor.
Thanks
Brian
Think your precision chuck made by Axminster, are you sure threads are ¾" x 14 TPI or could they be ¾" x 10 TPI or actually MM threads?
Over at Toolpost.co.uk they list several obsolete thread sizes that hard to find. 3/4" x 10 was one of those hard to find items did not list 3/4" x 14.
A local machine shop could measure and make a spindle adapter for you. At the end of the day might be cheaper to buy a new chuck

Might give them a call and ask.

My read of the nova pub is "3/4" 4TPI BSP RH" (cut and paste).
There was a 3/4 by 14 straight pipe thread and you can get the dies special order.
Machinist shop is an expensive route, but a perhaps you know a hobby machinist with a lathe which can cut threads to fit. A case of beer might be a low price.
Custom work for a machinist comes at a cost higher than the replacement cost of a new better quality chuck.
Hi
Have you had a look at Record Power website as they have a wide range of inserts if they dont have one to fit yours then it must be the only one

Small machine shops here in US do not charge that much for work that needs no set up. Local machine/welding shops here still do un-computerized work on their lathes. Yes, most machine shops here in the US will cost a small fortune making a one off item. Seriously do not think small or big machine shop here would have ¾" x 14 TPI BPF RH tape or die on hand here. ¾" x 16 TPI would be no problem.
So if no joy at UK small machine shop would local plumber provide help?
