This is two firsts for me. One being using hackberry wood at all, the other using the Vertex kit from PSI. The spalted hackberry I got from Woodturningz and it was stabilized. I found out the hard way I need a new 3/8 bit as mine has really dulled and caused the bit to travel more than I have seen in a really long time. I was still able to save the blank and turn it and keep it in round. I think I do like this kit. Its a shame I wasn't able to get the gun metal plating I originally ordered. I will for sure get it the next time. I dry sanded from 150-600 grit, then did 2 coats thin ca, 5 coats med ca. I then did wet MM from 1200-12000. I finished it with turtle wax. Sorry the pictures aren't the best, lightening at the office isn't great.
