Spalted Pendants

Here are three I made from a piece of "scrap" a fellow woodworker gave me. It was too small for him to use 4"x4"x1/2" but too pretty to throw away.

Can you tell I really like Sailing_Away's backer plate?

Probably Maple. That's my best guess.

I have a little of the material left, not enough for a pendant, so the wife is getting a set of earrings to match her pendant.

Very nice. I love the spalted look. What are you using for the necklace cord? I like the looks, there are no twists in it and the color goes great with your pendants. since you love the backer plate so much (as I do) have you looked at the blank sanding jig using it?

The necklace cord is Jewelry Essentials Stringing Satin Cord. http://www.michaels.com/art/online/displayProductPage?productNum=bd0539 I asked the wife to get something she'd be willing to wear.

I have looked at the sanding jig, but I think I'm going to rig one up for my bench sander. No point in having it if I don't use it.

Very nice work but I have to ask is the a tutorial on here anywhere on how to make these little masterpieces or would anyone like to offer some advice on how to do them
