Spalted Oak

I got this blank from the classified section here. The wood is spalted oak, and the kit is the classic american twist pencil. This will be part of a set that a customer asked for. She didn't specify the type of wood they wanted, just something "cool looking."

That is some pretty figure, Tom. It needs some more lighting, but it is obviously a very nice looking pen. Good job!

I just took his photo and adjusted the brightness/contrast using Paint Shop Pro.

I love the way you let the burl speak for itself, I think I heard it say "I'm cool". Excellent fit and a really nice finish.

I took some liberties with Paint Shop Pro.

1. One step Photo Fix.
2. Adjusted Saturation.

The pen realy looks good. Nice job on the finish. I love working with spalted wood. You never know what colors are there till you are done.
