Hello folks here is the other form from the same log as the previous hollow form i posted last week. this piece has the start of a multiple limb crotch on the top so if you look carfully you will see 3 or 4 piths- this may or may not cause problems during drying but it was a risk i am willing to take for such beautifull spalting

7.5" wide by 6" tall with a 3/4" hollowing hole

Can you finish it or coat it at this point with something that would keep it from cracking while drying? Amazing work. Hollow forms is next for me. Can't wait to get started.

Thank you for all of your kind comments

glen r: it will look virtually the same- the spalting takes allot of teh tension out of the wood so there wont be any noticeable movement-the piths may bulge slightly but its the sort of thing you'll feel on the curve rather than see.

Bellsy: I aim for somwhere between 3/16 and a quarter of an inch on spalted timber.

Martin pens: you can use PEG but its messy and expensive- i prefer to coat the outside with lemon oil to protect it from fingerprints etc and dry it slowly in my cupboard (to reduce airflow) and allow nature to take its course.
