While visiting my son in Georgia, we got to visit Johathon Brooks in South Carolina and learn how to make kitless pens.

Jonathon also gave me a tutorial on casting and helped my cast my first pen blank. I have included a photo of it after turning. You will notice that it looks a lot like a bottle stopper. Ok, I blew the part where you add so many drops of hardener - too much in one of the dyed resins, too little in the other. So it turned into a bottle stopper.

Jason of Serenity Pens also stopped by during the process and I got to meet another class guy that is also a pen turner.

Thanks to Jonathon and his wife Shea and daughter for making me feel welcome.

Marc

Man I need a haircut! (Think that gives it away to which one is me???)

Marc, I'm glad you got to come out. It was great meeting you and yall know my door is always open. That goes for anyone that wants to stop by!

I think that blank is badA! Remind me what colors you used again  I might have to remake some into pen blanks.

Jon,

I thought you might want to do a pen blank. We used the Metallic Clay Brick Flambe that was mislabeled as some sort of Red, and a black metallic. My thought, about 3 to 1 ratio of the copper colored clay brick to the black. By the way, don't squirt the hardener! I say that with tongue in cheek as though I know what I am talking about.
