Now that I'm mixing kits and parts I really need to buy my own brass tubing and do my own cutting of tubing. I have done some looking on the forum and have come up empty.

Can anyone give me a source for buying various diameter brass (or other) tubing and something to cut it with?

Much appreciated,
Martin

Martin, Check out Micromark. I have included some links for both tubing and cutter. Regards, Doc

For what you are doing, K&S will sell direct to you (at least used to) if you buy $500 or so at a time.

Ten of each of their sizes that you may use will get you there (AMHIKT)!!

Trouble is, you won't get what you want. The sizes that will fit our "fittings" are unique. You can get close, but that's how to crack your pens--being close, but not QUITE there.

Buy the tubes that were made for the fittings you plan to use. If you are building EVERYTHING from scratch, then pick the size you want and make it fit a standard K&S, which is also available at Hobby Lobby and many good hardware stores.

To match kit sizes you can go to kit suppliers. I got tubing in 10 inch lengths 7mm & 8mm. Other sizes are likely available. Try Woodturningz (call if its not on their web site).

I've tried K&S tubes, which will work for kitless designs. Hobby shops that specialize in models, trains, etc ususally carry it. Also some ACE hardware stores. K&S has brass & aliminum tubes. I think Grainger carries K&S too.

Another source for odd sizes is aluminium is arrow shafts. I'ce used arrow shaft in several pens. I happen to have never thown away old arrows, so I use what I have, btu you can visit an archery store with your calipers and just buy unfletched shafts - probably close to 3' long.

Wow! You guys are so fast. I'm mainly looking for tubing so I don't have to buy churchill kits. I'm making a pens that I use Churchill tubing and Gent parts. I'm just too chicken to go kitless and spend the money on the whole tap and die route.
Thanks Ed!
And Doc, I so appreciate the links. Just exactly what I was looking for. Also appreciate your comments on the new pen type I'm making.

At 55 cents a pair for the tubes, why not just buy a bunch -- 11 bucks will get you a lot of Churchill Tubes (price quote from AZ Sil web pages)
