I had a birthday earlier this month and my wonderful wife decided I needed some new friends. We picked up the miter saw at Sears. I also got a new parting tool, larger bowl gouge, scraper and....tomorrow, I pick up my new (to me) lathe. They had a Jet 1236 that had been a demo and used a few times in classes-$350. It is so nice to be spoiled. I also managed to slip in some kits and a bloodwood bowl blank. Pretty good day!

Happy belated birthday. And nice going with the tools. That antler looks like it is trying to leave the box. It looks like it wants a new home, after all, it is going to get crowded with all that new stuff. I will adopt it. :D I'll even pay the postage. It will like its new home.:D:D

Can I borrow your wife, Mark? In the alternative, is she available for some on-the-job training? My wife doesn't understand the concept of my needing new friends.

Can I toss my keys into the bowl as well? [}:)];)

Looks like you have a bunch of stuff to gloat about there. When I get something new, I just hide it for awhile then when she sees it and asks if that's new, I just say no, I've had that for awhile.:D

I read your offers out to my wife. She said no. Maybe you could sweeten the deal? She likes Helzberg Jewelers. Of course, I could use a better band saw.....

I picked up the lathe on the way home from work today. Now I have to squeeze it into the garage.

The antler has to stay. Some is from my brother who is a taxidermist and the rest is old that my grandmother and grandfather shot over 40 years ago. It still has the tags on it. I am trying to work it into something special.
